BILLS TO FOLLOW FOR 2007:

SB 5296 - Establishing the emergency management, preparedness, and assistance account. This is the same bill we introduced last year to fund local EM programs. Prime sponsor is Sen. Kastama.

HB 1347 - Requiring emergency response plans for long term care facilities. This has come out of the December windstorm in Western Washington and would upgrade the safety requirements in long term care facilities. Prime sponsor is Rep. Schual-Berke.

HB 1073 - Concerning limited emergency worker volunteer immunity. This bill was draft by the Military Dept. WSEMA has worked closely with them on this bill. Prime sponsor is Rep. Schual-Berke.

SB 5106 - Requiring emergency preparedness planning for service animals and household pets. This bill would mandate local pet plans. Our input is that without some specific State funding to locals this would be very difficult to accomplish. Prime sponsor is Sen. Jacobsen

SB 5097 - Changing requirements for school safety plans. Good basic bill that we can support. We have submitted a substitute bill with language to require comprehensive emergency plans and more involvement with local emergency managers. Prime sponsor is Sen. Rockefeller.
